Karen is an experienced commercial photographer, graphic designer and brand expert with a passion for great design, and an eye for detail when documenting people, places and food.
With over 15 years as a design professional, most recently as Creative Director and Vice President for SmartFurniture.com, Karen led the creation and development of a world-class brand. Prior to her role as VP, she worked directly with interior designers and managed corporate partnerships with Herman Miller, Knoll, Steelcase, L'Oréal, and Procter and Gamble.
Prior to joining the Smart Furniture team, Karen was an Art Director at Aisle Rocket Studios, focusing on point-of-sale design, marketing and directing photo shoots for Sears, Kenmore, KitchenAid, Whirlpool and Lowes. She also designed for The Canadian Sportsman, the longest running magazine publication in Canada, and Sportswood Printing, an international commercial publishing house located in Southwestern Ontario, Canada.
Outside of her work at Smart Furniture, Karen is co-founder of the CF Smackdown, a research effort to help end Cystic Fibrosis this decade, Chattanooga3D, and Wit and Aroma, a food blog focusing on the exploration of ingredients and recipes to learn and discover new and unique flavors.
Karen received her BFA in Graphic Design, graduating with Honors and Distinction, from the University of Illinois at Chicago, where she lettered 4 years as a scholarship Division I tennis player and maintained All Academic Team standing all 4 years. Her tennis career also took her to the island of Mauritius where her parents were born, to represent Mauritius in the 2003 Jeux des Îles (Indian Ocean Island Games).
Originally from London, Canada, Karen is married and has three children. She is the first (by two minutes) of a set of identical triplets.
